from DyrelleNearly 5,000 students representing districts throughout California sent in panels expressing “Why the Constitution is important to me.” At least 1,200 panels are on display at the State Capitol. The remainder of the panels will be on public display in other locations around the state. The California Campaign thanks their teachers for participating in this statewide Constitution & Citizenship Day project. We also thank Assemblymember Betty Karnette, the Secretary of State’s Office, and History-Social Science coordinators from county offices of education around the state for their assistance.

In April, 2007, a lone gunman roamed across a Virginia college campus, killing 32 students and teachers and wounding 15 others before taking his own life. Every year, almost 2 million young people in the United States fall victim to violent crimes at school. CRF has lots of resources on The Challenge of School Violence and ways to address this problem in your schools. What do you think causes school violence?
